When I look back on my time at Midway, what stands out most are the people who walked with me through it. The professors who learned my story, the classmates who became family, and the mentors who pushed me to grow in ways I didn’t expect. I arrived from South Africa with a plan and a lot of determination, but it was the day-to-day conversations and the quiet support here that opened my eyes to something deeper. Midway is the kind of place where someone notices when you’re overwhelmed, where a professor stays after class because they genuinely want you to succeed, and where a simple moment of encouragement can shift your entire sense of direction. Those relationships helped me discover a passion for teaching that I never would have recognized on my own. What changed me most wasn’t a single moment, but the steady encouragement of people who believed in me long before I believed in myself. They challenged me when it mattered, celebrated the small steps, and modeled the kind of integrity and compassion I now strive to carry into my own classroom. Midway gave me more than an education. It gave me a community that helped me understand who I am and what I’m meant to do. For any international student wondering if they’ll find their place here, I can say this with confidence: Midway is a place where you are seen, supported, and shaped in ways that stay with you long after graduation.
Vandan Vadher, from India, Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)
Coming to Midway University as an international student to pursue my MBA has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Alongside maintaining strong academic performance and working at the university cafeteria with Aramark, I was able to secure an internship at Kentucky Housing Corporation as a Business Rotation Intern. This role allowed me to gain hands-on experience across three departments - Human Resources, Marketing & Communications, and Housing Contract Administration - where I developed a broad skill set and learned to adapt and excel in different professional environments. I am deeply grateful for the continuous support and mentorship I received from my professors and from Ms. Mona Chorera, whose guidance was instrumental throughout my academic and professional journey. With the knowledge, confidence, and experience I gained at Midway University, I successfully transitioned into my current role as a Branch Banker at PNC, one of the nation’s leading financial institutions. Midway University not only provided me with an exceptional education but also with opportunities and encouragement that helped shape my career and personal growth. - Vandan Vadher, MBA Graduate

Bhakti Sakhwala, from India, MASTERS IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Testimonial by Bhakti Sakhwala, Class of 2024 As I reflect on my journey as an international student from India at Midway University, I am filled with gratitude and appreciation for the incredible experiences I've had. When I first chose to study at Midway, I was apprehensive about how everything would unfold. However, from the moment I stepped on campus, I was embraced by a supportive community that made a world of difference. Our International Student Dean played an immeasurable role in my transition. She was more than just an administrator; she was a guiding figure who listened to our aspirations and concerns with genuine care. Her mentorship felt like that of a nurturing elder, always encouraging us to envision and pursue our future with confidence. Academically, my time at Midway was both enriching and enjoyable. Each of my professors, especially Dr. Robert Barrett, demonstrated a deep commitment to our learning. Dr. Barrett's engaging teaching style facilitated practical discussions that made challenging subjects not just understandable but enjoyable. He was always available to provide extra assistance, ensuring I had the resources to excel, which resulted in my achieving outstanding grades. Beyond academics, Midway’s vibrant campus life was a tapestry of cultures and traditions, making my experience truly unforgettable. Participating in various celebrations highlighted the beauty of diversity. The impressive Homecoming events brought together students, faculty, and alumni in a festive spirit, complete with parades, games, and camaraderie. I cherished the sense of belonging it fostered among us. Celebrations like Cultural Walk show(representing all different attires), food festival, and Festival of Colors allowed me to proudly share my culture, while also embracing those of my classmates. One of my fondest memories is the Diwali party, which created a warm atmosphere where my family was invited to join the festivities. Being able to share my culture with my family at such a distance made it a deeply touching experience, reinforcing the sense of community that Midway embodies. Moreover, I was encouraged to work as a student tutor, which significantly increased my engagement with campus activities. I was able to assist fellow students, participate in career fairs, and join interview preparation workshops, all of which were instrumental in helping me prepare for the job market. Midway also fostered a love for sports; though I had little prior experience, I was encouraged to support the college football team. The thrill of game days, cheering for our team alongside friends, turned into cherished memories of camaraderie and school spirit. Through these experiences—academic challenges, cultural celebrations, and strong community ties—I have grown tremendously. I emerged not only with a solid educational foundation but also with lifelong friendships and invaluable life skills. Thanks to the faculty's unwavering support, especially from the Dean and my professors, I was able to navigate a competitive job market successfully and secure a prominent position shortly after graduation. Midway University has played a pivotal role in shaping who I am today. I am forever grateful for the countless memories, the lessons learned, and the remarkable individuals who guided me along the way.
Axel Sperling, from Sweden, Business Administration
I was transferred to Midway University during my junior year, and despite being a transfer and from Sweden, I immediately felt welcomed. It is a close and supportive community where professors and staff genuinely care about you. As a Business Administration major and captain of the men’s tennis team, I’ve been able to challenge myself both academically and athletically while building meaningful relationships with people from around the world. Midway has truly helped me develop as a leader, student, athlete, and, most importantly, as a person.
Daniel Cogo, from Italy, MBA - Human Resources Management
Midway University has truly been a life-changing experience for me. From the moment I arrived, I felt supported not only as a student but as a person. The small-campus environment creates genuine connections — professors know you by name, and staff truly care about your success. Through my time at Midway, I’ve had the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Serving as a Graduate Assistant Resident Director and collaborating with departments like Student Affairs and Marketing has allowed me to take on real leadership responsibilities — from organizing campus-wide intramural tournaments to developing creative social media strategies that foster engagement across our community. These experiences have strengthened my communication, management, and problem-solving skills in ways that go far beyond the classroom. One of the highlights of my experience has been working with the Multicultural Student Association (MSA). Being part of MSA has been incredibly rewarding — it gave me a platform to celebrate diversity, promote inclusion, and create events that bring people from different backgrounds together. Seeing students connect, share their cultures, and feel represented on campus has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my journey. What I love most about Midway is its sense of community. Everyone here — students, faculty, and staff — works together to create an inclusive, welcoming environment where you can truly belong. Midway doesn’t just prepare you for your career; it prepares you to lead, to serve, and to make a difference wherever you go. I couldn’t imagine a better place to have grown as a student, leader, and individual.
