Leighton Park School

United Kingdom, England, Berkshire
500-1000

Leighton Park is one of the top performing schools in England. We achieve this through exceptional teaching in small classes, fun and engaging lessons and a holistic approach to support personal development as well as academic progress. Above all, we support students to really think about what they want to achieve, foster their inner drive and help them find purpose in their learning.

The school was founded in 1890 and is a day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 11-18 set in 65 acres of beautiful parkland located 25 minutes from central London and 30 minutes in a taxi from London Heathrow. We have 550 students from 41 different countries and offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma as well as the English qualifications such as GCSEs and A Levels.

The UK Government’s latest league tables reveal Leighton Park to be the best performing School in Berkshire and one of only eight schools in England to have always appeared in the top 100 for the academic progress of its students. Our A Level students achieved 72% A*/A last year. The Independent School Inspectorate (ISI) awarded Leighton Park a ‘double excellent’ standard in January 2022, the highest possible attainment for an independent school, in recognition of both the quality of pupils’ personal development and the quality of their academic progress.

While the School offers a holistic curriculum, it is particularly well-known for its STEAM academic approach, which combines the analytical skills from Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths with the creativity from the Arts. It won the national Award for Excellence in STEAM Education in 2020.

Music is another strength of the School with a stunning Music and Media Centre providing students with exceptional facilities, including a Yamaha Live Lounge recording studio. Our Music department is accredited as a Flagship Music Education Partner, the only school in Europe to hold this status, with 50% of students studying an instrument and 27 music teachers on staff.

Our Flexi, Weekly or Full Boarding students enjoy the very best of Leighton Park with a vibrant evening and weekend programme on and off site. Our Year 7 and 8 boarders benefit from brand new boarding accommodation in Fryer House. Our girls’ senior boarding house is situated next to our sports fields, surrounded by magnificent oak trees, while our senior boys enjoy being located next to the School’s restaurant and swimming pool.
