Annabelle Lingbeck, from United States, Master in International Education Administration (MAIE)
My time in the MAIE at ACM was exceptional. I had knowledgeable professors, engaging classes, and so much real-world experience in international education. Because of this degree, I feel prepared to start working professionally in the field of study abroad.
Nicholas Klamerus, from France, French and Philosophy (BA)
My journey at The American College of the Mediterranean (ACM)/IAU was truly transformative, perfectly suiting my needs as a non-traditional student, as I went back to finish my degree after many years. I'm proud to say I now have my diploma, and much of that success is thanks to the incredible environment ACM provides. The small, intimate class sizes were a distinct advantage. This nurturing setting allowed professors to genuinely encourage student participation, fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. I felt seen and heard, which made a significant difference in my educational experience. The faculty at ACM are truly exceptional, and I feel incredibly grateful for their dedication. Dean Yumna's art history class on cross-culturalism in the Mediterranean was amazing, and my Theatre of Protest class with Richard, along with ceramics with Will, were nothing short of transformative – I genuinely feel like a different person after those experiences. Discovering Buddhism with Erik Freeman was an eye-opening and life-changing experience; Erik also proved to be an excellent academic advisor, always available and professional, providing invaluable guidance on course selection. Business classes with Nitin were incredibly interactive, and I loved his teaching style. The ethics trip to Morocco with Nitin and Dean Jamai was particularly eye-opening in a multicultural sense. The school trips are an incredible part of the experience, allowing you to see parts of Europe and Africa you never dreamed of, all included in the package. My theatre trip to Berlin was also an unforgettable academic highlight, where I bonded with fellow students and found inspiration for my own creative work. My J-term trip to Greece, Rome, and Sicily with Pamela and Bob was beyond amazing – seeing ancient artworks and architecture was the most incredible experience of my life, and they were a great and informative team. Beyond the classroom, the support extended to every aspect of my journey. The administrative support I received was instrumental in alleviating my initial concerns about returning to school, and the hands-on financial aid assistance was indispensable, making it possible for me, with a family and two kids in France, to pursue my degree. The French program deserves a special mention as it truly changed my life here in France. My first French teacher, Sihem, along with Dr. Heysel, gave me all the motivation I needed to overcome my fear of French. The course curriculum for courses taught in French is super extensive; I was able to take history, political science, literature, and writing classes all in French. Thanks to Dr. Durand, Dr. Guitry, Dr. Lantelme, Dr. Canessa, and Miss Berard, I took many advanced French courses that allowed me to feel more a part of this country and understand French culture and identity on a much deeper level. Overall, ACM truly had everything I needed for my studies, and I'm thrilled it will soon be fully accredited. For anyone considering attending, I promise you will love it! Aix-en-Provence is the most amazing city, brimming with all the culture of Provence and serving as a vibrant metropolitan area with anything to meet your needs. With over a hundred thousand students, it truly feels like a giant college town, offering an incredibly unique and enriching environment that I wholeheartedly recommend.
Carl Austin Jubran, from United States, Global Masters of Business Administration (GMBA)
"My experience with studying at ACM was very unique and impactful. Being surrounded by a cohort of various backgrounds coupled with cultural immersion in countries such as Spain, France, and Morocco was truly an adventure. Experiential learning was the determining factor for my enjoyment of the program since my cohort and I were not only spending time in the classroom but also visiting businesses and collaborating on group projects that were orchestrated by the esteemed staff of ACM. I highly recommend anyone from any background to consider this MBA program since it has expanded my horizons and maximized my connections in a global context." - Carl Austin Jubran ACM 2024-25
Charles DeLeon-Franzen, from United States, Master of French Studies (MAFS)
The Masters of Arts in French Studies at ACM was nothing short of an epochal event in my life. The key was immersion. The experience vastly outweighed any schooling I received in the US simply because I was living and breathing the language: in the classroom, at work, on the street. To support the immersive aspect, ACM has a fantastic faculty that take personal interest in their students, by quickly becoming mentors and even friends. This rare approach of consistent commitment by highly-educated professors in the growth of their pupils combines with a small class size to create an unparalleled learning environment. The education I received here directly corresponds to the effort I put into it, and involved opportunities beyond the classroom: participating in clubs, creating the literature magazine (millefontaines.org), completing professional internships, and even working part-time for local businesses through a student visa. Each layer added on to my experience at this university rebounded with connections tenfold. After an impersonal education during undergrad at a state school, I often questioned if college had been the right choice. After my time at ACM, I realized my earlier education had just been at the wrong type of school. Nothing could have prepared me for the leaps and bounds I have taken forward in personal and professional growth during this last year. Pursue what scares you, it is often the right path.
Victor Rojo-Kratochvil, from United States, Global Master in Business Administration (GMBA)
The dual-city Global Master’s in Business Administration program in Barcelona and Aix-en-Provence was truly a life-changing experience. Before enrolling at ACM, I had launched a digital marketing business from the ground up but lacked formal business administration training. My goal in pursuing this program was to deepen my understanding of core topics such as finance, supply chain logistics, management, operations strategy, and global marketing and communications. The academic experience exceeded my expectations and equipped me with the skills I sought to become a more dynamic and globally minded entrepreneur. However, I didn’t anticipate the profound personal growth that would come from living in two different yet vibrant European cities. Over the years, I grew as a student and evolved as a person. Immersing myself in new cultures expanded my worldview, increased my cultural awareness and tolerance, and led to meaningful friendships within and beyond the program. The semester in France also allowed me to improve my French. I arrived in Aix-en-Provence with only beginner-level proficiency, but by the fourth month, I confidently held intermediate-level conversations with locals and professors. I wholeheartedly recommend this program to anyone aspiring to become an entrepreneur or to work in a business with a global footprint. It offers an exceptional academic foundation and an unforgettable cultural and personal journey.
Michael Parrinello, from United States, Global Master in Business Administration (GMBA)
